Comfortable seating is the basis for our mediation. Before the meditation begins, you should find a comfortable sitting position where you can easily stay for ten minutes. A comfortable one Meditation cushions supports you in this.
WHY A MEDITATION PILLOW?
Many of us find meditation difficult at the very beginning. The mind is restless and we can only sit still and find peace with difficulty. If it twitches, because the back hurts or we force ourselves into a too advanced sitting position, the mind cannot come to rest.
Notices: Yours Seat (whether on the floor, a chair or leaning against a wall) should never cause pain and your lower back should always be erected.
A seat or yoga cushion automatically helps you to improve seating comfort. It relieves the spine and the entire back. Above all, however, it ensures a natural erection of the spine, so that we do not pack up so easily. This creates more space in the belly area and our Breath can flow freer and deeper.
Once you have found a seating position, you should stay comfortably in it. But just as a beginner you will perceive your body in a longer meditation. Do not hesitate, but bring movement into the painful parts of the body. For example, gently loosen your legs and then return to the seat.
How can I find a suitable meditation pillow?
The most important criterion for buying a suitable pillow is yourself. Free according to the motto "How to cushion yourself, how to meditate", the appropriate meditation cushion can be decisive for the meditation being perceived as pleasant and coherent. Each of us has a own feelingwhen it comes to the seat. This sensation is related, on the one hand, to the flexibility of the body and, on the other hand, to the opening of the hips and the back.
The right pillow should support you with an upright and straight posturerelieve your pelvis and spine and create space to calm your thoughts. Your mind should not deal with thigh pain, hip problems or back during meditation, but should come to rest.
There are no criteria that apply equally to all meditators. However, there are a few points you can consider when choosing the right meditation cushion.

If you keep these points in mind, you will quickly realize how useful a good meditation pillow can be!
The height of the meditation kit is crucial for body size, flexibility and application. We at Lotuscrafts divide our meditation kits into three different size categories:
Small: approx. 10 cm seat height
Standard: approx. 15 cm seat height
High: approx. 20 cm seat height
We recommend a pillow of the category "Small" with a seat height of about 10 cm, if you are about 1.70 m tall and can sit comfortably in the tailor and lotus seat and on the heels. You should also have high hip flexibility (hip opening) and your knees should be healthy and resilient. By the way, small pillows like these also offer good help if you let it work a little easier on yoga and don’t want to stretch too far or can.
The category “Standard” is suitable if you are looking for a versatile pillow with a normal seat height and, for example, have some longer legs, but still wants to sit in the tailor seat. The seat height of approx. 15 cm is ideal if you are over 1.70 m tall, have complaints in the leg muscles, hip joints or knees. If you meditate over a long time, the standard pillow can change the seat position more easily and more frequently. The pillow height is also ideal for the knee seat where the pillow is located between the legs. The knees are in front, the lower legs on the ground and the feet point backwards.
We recommend the category “High” if you have very long legs, over 1.80 m tall, in the tailor seat wishes to sit and has a lower hip flexibility. This seat height is also good if you have complaints in the leg muscles, hip joints or knees, and prefer the knee seat. Since you sit higher with this pillow, you'll be relieved of getting up here. The pillow is also well suited as a flexible, slightly higher seating area for therapy and seminar rooms.
In meditation, you bring body and mind into harmony and come to rest. Your seating document is to help you with this, you should hardly notice it so you can focus entirely on yourself and your practice. Ideally, the material of filling fits in your body shape ergonomically.

Our meditation and yoga cushions are carefully filled with organic tinctures right on site in our workshop.
Dinkelspelzen are the shell of the grain of the dinkel and are prepared to become a “meditation cushion filling” accordingly. First, the grain is removed, then the spelts werehed, dried and dusted. This ensures hygiene and long shelf life.
Why tinkers?
For several reasons, we decided to use tinkel pelts as filling material:
Dinkels are pleasant soft, shape-stable and adaptableTherefore, the pillows of Lotuscrafts are easily sniffed to the chosen seat position.
tinkel pelts are robust, equal temperature and moisture and filling generally does not need to be exchanged. It's enough if you shake up and air the meditation boxes every now and then.
tinkel pelts are lightweight. This is why shipping costs are minimized and the transport of the meditation boxes is hardly in the weight.
tinkel pelts let one replace. If the filling has to be exchanged, tinkers can be bought in a favorable way and easily refilled.
Dinkels can be replaced and can be environmentally friendly return to the natural nutrient cycle.
tinkel pelts smell good. Therefore, we are happy to meet the fresh “separable” fragrance that welcomes us when we enter our workshop.
Kapok is extracted from the pods of the Capok tree. The tree-wooled plant fiber is especially suitable for filling if you wish a soft and nautical pillow. Kapok is also optimal for allergyists, as these plant fibers hardly attract mites and are very breathable.
Which tool can I use instead of a meditation pillow?
If you do not cope well with the presented meditation cushions and your seat does not feel good, then perhaps one of the following alternatives is something for you. There is no objection to meditating with a meditation bank or a bolster.
The meditation bank
Meditation benches are suitable for long meditations and for people with knee problems. They provide a straight erection and usually allow deep abdominal respiration due to a beveled seat surface. This helps you bring your attention inside and more easily find your middle.
Also one Bolster or one Role can be a suitable seat for the meditation. You can use the bolster use well for knee seatby bringing it between your legs and lowering your buttocks onto the bolster. Your knees are facing forward, your feet are comfortably beside.
If you are at the beginning of your Meditation practise looking for support and gladly meditating with your back on the wall, you can lean the bolster against the wall to gently support your back.
For short meditations as part of a yoga lesson, you can use a block as Seat base choose. Even if you practice pranayama at home, a block is well suited. The block of natural cork also helps you to straighten up, make your upper body long and strive up with the head crown. It roots you and provides a stable seat.
For longer meditations and long sitting, we recommend our meditation pillows and meditation benches.
As you can see, there are many options available when choosing your yoga or meditation cushion. Just consider your height, your mobility and the colors you've always been drawn to. So you will quickly find the meditation pillow that fits you and your personal way of meditating!
